Rosé wines have been gaining in popularity over the last few years with blushing English rosés quite deservedly enjoying their moment in the spotlight.

A sparkling rosé makes a great statement at any celebration but there are also times when a more sedate, still rosé is what’s called for.

Thankfully, we have a number of local vineyards that are making award-winning rosés, both sparkling and still, proving that rosé isn’t just for summer – they are for drinking all year round…

Woodchester Valley Vineyard Rosé Brut

This is a well-balanced, award-winning sparkling rosé with delicate bubbles, made by this boutique Cotswold vineyard and winery near Stroud. Created using 82% pinot noir and 18% pinot meunier grapes, this wine maintains subtle raspberry and toasted aromas which follow through and linger on the palate.

As well as tours and tastings at their charming Stroud Valleys vineyards, Woodchester Valley Vineyard hosts regular wine events including Sparkling wine with Simpson’s Fish & Chips evenings and Sparkling wine with afternoon tea.

Three Choirs Pinot Noir Rosé Sparkling 2017

Hailing from the thriving Three Choirs vineyard in Newent, this orangy-pink sparkling wine is a traditional bottle fermented English sparkling wine, made from 100% pinot noir. Aged on the lees for two and a half years, it has the complexity of the classic style balanced with fresh strawberry and cream on the finish.

Three Choirs Rosé 2020

This is a fresh, refreshing rosé with subtle berry fruit aromas. On the palate, the summer berry fruit is well balanced with zesty acidity to deliver a fine, complex, off-dry wine. The flavours of classic English summer fruit are combined with hints of summer hedgerow to produce a crisp, fresh finish.

Sixteen Ridges Pinot Noir Sparkling Rosé 2015

Made in the traditional champagne method at the winery in Ledbury, this multi award-wining local wine has a beautiful pale salmon colour and sumptuous fruit flavour. Its vibrant acidity leaves the palate clean and crisp with a long-lasting raspberry finish. A rich palate of strawberry and cherry, with a hint of hawthorn berry too.

Bow in the Cloud 2014 Sparkling Cloud Nine Rosé

This fresh, elegant sparkling wine has been produced with bottle fermentation of seyval grapes at this small, family-run vineyard outside Malmesbury. The wine has a delicate character with fine bubbles that release raspberry and vanilla flavours, leading to a refreshing citrus finish.
