Gioiosa Prosecco Brut 75cl!

Festive fizz

This is the best way to start every party but it doesn’t have to be champagne. You could do worse than supporting local producers by trying the many fantastic local sparkling wines. Or, for the budget-conscious, seek out a cheaper alternative – many French sparkling wines and cava offer a similar depth of flavour, or for a lighter fizz, prosecco is still everyone’s favourite party drink.

Here’s what’s on our party list…

Veuve Clicquot Champagne

This well-respected Champagne house ages their non-vintage for almost twice the required time, resulting in a superb marriage of freshness and power, with rich fruit and a mouth-filling mousse.

Lanson Black Label Champagne 75cl

Hints of spring flowers with a touch of toast and honey are the key notes in this elegant champagne. Dating back to 1760, Champagne Lanson is the third oldest producer in Champagne and this experience means it is universally appreciated.

Sixteen Ridges Signature Cuvée 75cl

This vivacious sparkling white wine hails from the market town of Ledbury where Sixteen Ridges has been making a number of award-winning English wines. With notes of lemon, baked apple, honeysuckle and hazelnut character, this wine has an elegant long clean finish. Try it this Christmas with smoked salmon canapés.

Woodchester Valley Rosé Brut 75cl

This sparkling rosé from the popular Stroud-based vineyard is charmingly well balanced with delicate bubbles. Made from 82% Pinot Noir and 18% Pinot Meunier grapes, you can taste the subtle raspberry flavours and toasted aromas which follow through and linger on the palate.

Morrison’s The Best Cremant de Limoux Sparkling Wine

This Cremant de Limoux is made in partnership with Sieur d’Arques. It is blended with a majority of Chardonnay giving an elegant style. Minimum 12 month ageing in bottle adds creaminess and a touch of biscuit richness to the finish. Expect honey and apple blossom aromas with apple crumble and lemon curd flavours to delight the palate.

Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut Cava

The world’s number-one imported Cava, known globally as the ‘black bottle bubbly’. Crisp, clean and well balanced, with distinctive apple, pear and bright citrus flavours and even a touch of ginger, this is still the Cava to beat. This elegant brut cava is crisp, clean and well-balanced. The fresh palate of apple, ripe pear and bright citrus flavours; combine with a long finish and an exciting touch of ginger.

Gioiosa Prosecco Brut

Italy’s answer to champagne, this lovely, dry Prosecco is a real lemony mouthful with a hint of almonds to finish off. It’s great on its own and if you want to enjoy it as part of a meal, try it with a fish pie or a lovely light seafood pasta. Treviso in north-eastern Italy is home to the best Prosecco wines around. And it’s from the celebrated vineyards of Veneto that this fabulously fizzy Prosecco from La Gioiosa hails, where the Moretti Polegato family have been making ‘joyous’ prosecco for 3 generations.
