Jack Bakes

Just because you have dietary restrictions, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy indulgent treats! That’s exactly what Sarah (Jack) Jackaman, of Jack Bakes, aims to offer with her vegan and gluten-free baking. Why not try one of her celebrated bakes this veganuary and see what all the fuss is about…

Jack Bakes was born out of a love of cake. It was created by Sarah
‘Jack’ Jackaman (a vegan) in 2015 as a way for her brother (who is gluten
free) and her to be able to enjoy baked goods, despite their dietary restrictions.

Sarah dedicated time to devising recipes that could allow them to still enjoy cakes that were light, gooey and moist but without eggs, dairy or gluten, thus fulfilling her intention that everyone should be able to enjoy cake!

The artisan bakes Sarah devises are made without any animal products or gluten but don’t skimp on quality or taste. They include everyone’s favourite cake (from Chocolate to Carrot), as well as a mouthwatering selection that covers everything from Raw Cheesecakes and Bakewell Tarts to savouries (think Leek & Broccoli Tart and Stuffed Potato Cakes).

This is no frills baking at its finest. Free-from cakes and pastries are notoriously difficult to get right, so while there may not be fancy icing and decorative swirls to these cakes, you can be sure they’ve been tried and tested and tried again until the recipes are absolutely spot on – the proof is in the pudding as they say!

Thanks to a dedicated following, Jack Bakes has had its most successful year yet. So much so, that Sarah has been seeking a new industrial unit and premises to keep up with demand!

The chocolate chip brownies are a constant best-seller and the coffee cake is so good you don’t know it’s a free from product at all.

Top quality ingredients are key to the success of these free from bakes. Sarah uses the locally-produced Shipton Mill gluten free flour which is a blend of Organic Brown Rice Flour, Organic White Rice Flour, Maize Starch, Tapioca Starch, Organic Maize Flour and Buckwheat Flour. None of her baking contains animal products or anything containing gluten.
